EPIDEMIOLOGY AND DISEASE CONTROL TECHNOLOGY

National Diploma (ND) in Epidemiology and disease control Technology

PROGRAMME GOAL:

The National Diploma Programme in Epidemiology and disease control Technology is designed to provide Middle level epidemiological personnel that will assist in epidemiological and disease control activities in communities.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME:

  • At the end of the programme the diplomate should be able to:
  • Carry out rudimentary Epidemiological functions
  • Organize Epidemiological and disease control information in the community
  • Participate in the development of information, Education and communication materials at the community level
  • Assist communities identify their Health challenges
  • Assist in facilitating surveillance and disease notification

Mode of Entry

  • Admission into the National Diploma (ND) Epidemiology and disease control Technology programme at the Adamawa State College of Health Science and Technology, Michika, is through:
  • Completing an online Application through the admission portal (https://ascoht.admissions.cloud/)
  • Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The minimum entry requirements into the ND Epidemiology and disease control Technology programme
Five (5) credit passes in: WASC, NECO or GCE ‘O’ Level; at not more than two (2) sittings.
The subject combination must include: English, Mathematics, Biology/Health Science, Chemistry, Physics and Geography
Environmental Health Assistant Certificate (with CGPA not less than 2.50) from accredited
programme/institution.

STRUCTURE/DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME:

The ND Epidemiology and disease control Technology is a terminal programme structured to last
for two (2) years (four semesters) of classroom work, laboratory and workshop practices in an
accredited primary or secondary health institution.
Each semester shall be for 17-18 weeks, made up as follows:
15 contact weeks of teaching (i.e lectures and practical sessions etc) and
2-3 weeks for registration, tests, quizzes and examinations.
